Embraer Praetor 500 receives EASA and FAA approval https://businessaviationnews.com/embraer-praetor-500-receives-easa-and-faa-approval/ Mon, 30 Sep 2019 15:15:23 +0000 http://businessaviationnews.com/?p=525 MELBOURNE, FL, Sept. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Embraer announces that the company’s new Praetor 500 midsize business jet was granted its Type Certificate by EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) and by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). The Praetor 500 received regulatory approval from Brazil’s Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC—Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil) in August, less than a year after having been announced in October 2018 at NBAA-BACE.

The Praetor 500 surpassed its certification goals achieving an intercontinental range of 3,340 nautical miles (6,186 km—NBAA IFR Reserves with four passengers), a high-speed cruise of 466 KTAS, a full-fuel payload of 1,600 lb (726 kg), a takeoff distance of only 4,222 ft (1,287 m) and an unfactored landing distance of 2,086 ft (636 m). For a 1,000-nautical-mile mission, the take-off distance is a mere 2,842 ft (867 m).

The Praetor 500 outperforms its class, becoming the best midsize jet ever developed and the only jet in its class with Ka-band internet connectivity. With the best cabin altitude, the Praetor 500 is the only midsize jet with full fly-by-wire, which complements the superior cabin experience of the Embraer DNA interior design with turbulence reduction for the smoothest and most efficient flight possible.

“The triple-certification by ANAC, EASA and FAA reaffirm the most disruptive and technologically advanced design of the Praetor 500 as the best midsize jet ever made,” said Michael Amalfitano, President & CEO, Embraer Executive Jets. “Praetor 500 owners will now enjoy the ultimate customer experience in the midsize class, with the highest level of performance, technology and comfort.”

The Praetor 500 is now the farthest – and fastest – flying midsize jet, able to make true corner-to-corner nonstop flights in North America, from Miami to Seattle, or Los Angeles to New York as well from New York to London, London to Dubai and Jakarta to Tokyo, all non-stop. The Praetor 500 also connects the west coast of North America to Europe and to South America, from Los Angeles to London or to São Paulo, with single-stop performance. In addition to connecting the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre to New York or São Paulo to Paris, with only one stop, the Praetor 500’s superior performance allows access to special operation airports, such as Angra dos Reis and Jacarepaguá, in Brazil.

The Embraer DNA Design interior eloquently explores every dimension of the only midsize to feature a six-foot-tall, flat-floor cabin, stone flooring and a vacuum service lavatory, all in the same certified aircraft. The class-exclusive Turbulence Reduction technology and 5,800-foot cabin altitude, complemented by a whisper silent cabin, have set the highest standards in customer experience in the midsize category. The Praetor 500 has the capacity to seat up to nine passengers with the optional two-place divan. Of the six fully reclining seats, four may be berthed into two beds. The largest baggage compartment in the class is complemented by a generous wardrobe and a full vanity in the rear private lavatory.

Advanced technology throughout the cabin is also a trait of the Embraer DNA Design, beginning with the industry-exclusive Upper Tech Panel that displays flight information and offers cabin management features also available on personal devices through Honeywell Ovation Select. High-capacity, ultra high-speed connectivity for all aboard is available through Viasat’s Ka-band, with speeds of up to 16Mbps and unlimited IPTV streaming, another industry-exclusive in midsize jets.

The Praetor 500 features the newest edition of the acclaimed Collins Aerospace Pro Line Fusion flight deck. Some of the options available on the Praetor 500 flight deck are the industry-first vertical weather display, air-traffic-control-like situational awareness with ADSB-IN, predictive wind shear radar capability, as well as the Embraer Enhanced Vision System (E2VS) with a Head-up Display (HUD) and an Enhanced Vision System (EVS), an Inertial Reference System (IRS) and a Synthetic Vision Guidance System (SVGS).

The milestone comes approximately one month after the aircraft earned its U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) type and production certificates. A U.S. customer took delivery of the aircraft at Gulfstream’s Savannah headquarters.

“We always strive to exceed our customers’ expectations, and our first G600 delivery is a prime example of that,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “The effort put forth by our team enabled this award-winning, technologically advanced aircraft to move from certified to delivered in an extremely short period of time. We are very proud of everyone who had a part in making this happen and keeping our promise to customers, as is a Gulfstream tradition, of a 2019 entry into service.

“The G600, with its outstanding performance, industry-leading innovative technology and stylish, comfortable cabin, continues the emergence of a new generation of Gulfstream aircraft that started with the G500™ in 2018. We have only just begun.”

The G600 received both FAA type and production certificates on June 28, 2019. The aircraft entered service after a design and test program that included flying nearly 100,000 hours in the company’s labs and more than 3,200 hours of flying in the air.

The G600 can carry passengers nonstop from Paris to Los Angeles or Hong Kong at an average speed of Mach 0.90 in an interior that won top honors in Private Jet Design at the 2018 International Yacht & Aviation Awards.

The aircraft is equipped with the revolutionary Symmetry Flight Deck™, which includes active control sidesticks and 10 touchscreens. The advanced technology has earned Gulfstream several awards, including Aviation Week’s 2017 Technology Laureate Award, Business Intelligence Group’s 2019 Innovation Award and Avionics Magazine’s 2015 Technology Company of the Year.

The G600, which already has more than 10 city-pair speed records, flies 6,500 nautical miles/12,038 kilometers at its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85. Its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.925, the same as the company flagship Gulfstream G650ER™.

GULFSTREAM G600 RECEIVES TYPE CERTIFICATE FROM FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION https://businessaviationnews.com/gulfstream-g600-receives-type-certificate-from-federal-aviation-administration/ Fri, 28 Jun 2019 13:44:38 +0000 http://businessaviationnews.com/?p=457 SAVANNAH, Georgia, June 28, 2019 — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced the all-new Gulfstream G600™ earned both its type and production certificates from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The certifications clear the way for the first G600 deliveries to customers as scheduled this year.

“Getting both authorizations on the same day is evidence of the maturity of our G600 production processes and speaks to the safety and reliability of the aircraft’s design,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “Even more remarkable is the fact that we achieved these simultaneous certifications less than a year after completing another major program, certifying and delivering the Gulfstream G500™, another testament to the engineering expertise and manufacturing excellence that are hallmarks of Gulfstream. The hard work by our team, including nearly 100,000 hours of ‘flying’ in our labs and more than 3,200 hours of flying in the air, shows our dedication to safety and our customers.

“These rigorous and thorough certification processes ensure we deliver a first-rate aircraft that exceeds expectations. We can’t wait to put the newest member of our aircraft family — one that spectacularly combines performance, efficiency, technology and comfort that are second to none — into the hands of our worldwide customers.”

The FAA grants type certification after an aircraft’s design proves compliance with aviation regulations. The FAA issues a production certificate once an aircraft manufacturer demonstrates its manufacturing facilities and quality management system meet the agency’s stringent safety and reliability requirements.

The award-winning G600 is the third Gulfstream aircraft model to get its type and production certificates simultaneously. The first was the Gulfstream G550™ on Aug. 14, 2003. The clean-sheet Gulfstream G500 duplicated the feat on July 20, 2018.

The G600 flies 6,500 nautical miles/12,038 kilometers at its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85. At its high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90, the G600 travels 5,500 nm/10,186 km. The aircraft has already earned 11 city-pair speed records, all at Mach 0.90. Its maximum operating speed is Mach 0.925.

The G600 features the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck™, which includes active control sidesticks and 10 touch screens, both industry firsts. The aircraft’s new interior earned top honors in Private Jet Design at the 2018 International Yacht & Aviation Awards.

Along with a cabin that can be configured for three living areas and a crew rest, the G600 has industry-leading cabin sound levels, a low cabin altitude and 100 percent fresh air, which reduce fatigue and increase mental awareness. The G600’s 14 panoramic oval windows let in an abundance of natural light.

The FAA last month issued the last of 20,000 $500 rebate reservations offered to general aviation aircraft owners. Since then, returned or expired reservations are made available each Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET on a first-come, first-served basis.
