SAVANNAH, Georgia, January 13, 2020 — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced the promotion of Matt Baer to regional vice president of Sales for the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada.

Baer joined Gulfstream in the spring of 2019 as a regional sales manager for the northeastern region. Prior to that, he was a vice president of global corporate aircraft finance with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He has worked in the aviation industry for a decade and is a licensed pilot. Baer earned a bachelor’s degree in business marketing management from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Baer is based in Gulfstream’s Manhattan Sales and Design Center and reports to Peter Vasconcelos, regional senior vice president of Sales for the northeastern U.S. and eastern Canada.

SAVANNAH, Georgia, December 23, 2019 — Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced its 600thGulfstream G550™ has been delivered to a customer. The milestone delivery was celebrated by Gulfstream employees at the company’s Brunswick, Georgia, completions and maintenance facility.

“The G550 has solidified its place as one of the most dependable business jets available,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “More than 20 percent of Gulfstream aircraft in service are G550s, proving its reputation as an established and versatile aircraft for business aviation.”

Entering service in 2003, the G550 introduced the award-winning PlaneView™ flight deck featuring Gulfstream’s Enhanced Flight Vision System. For its technological and safety innovations, the G550 was awarded the 2003 Robert J. Collier Trophy.

Equipped with two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines, the G550 can fly 6,750 nautical miles/12,501 kilometers at Mach 0.80, connecting Tokyo with Palm Beach or Shanghai with London. The cabin offers numerous configurations and can seat up to 19 passengers and sleep up to 8. The G550 can also be outfitted for a variety of government applications, including aeromedical evacuation, head-of-state transport, airborne early warning, atmospheric research and maritime patrol.

    Dassault Aviation’s new Falcon 6X is nearing initial assembly as the ultra-wide body twinjet continues progressing smoothly towards its scheduled first flight in 2021 and entry into service in 2022.


    The front, main and rear fuselage sections of the first aircraft are now complete and are scheduled to be assembled at Dassault’s factory in Biarritz, France later this month. The wing, currently being assembled in nearby Martignas, is due to be joined to the fuselage at Dassault’s Bordeaux-Mérignac facility early next year.


    “Everything has been proceeding according to plan.  The design was frozen earlier this year and the manufacturing process is well underway,” said Eric Trappier, Chairman & CEO of Dassault Aviation. “Dassault Aviation and our global partners have the collaborative digital tools in place to continue to meet the benchmarks that were established when the program was announced.”


    Engine, Systems Testing Advances

    Development of the Falcon 6X’s Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812D engine is also proceeding on schedule. The production PW812D together with the integrated nacelle from United Technologies Corp will be mounted on the Pratt & Whitney Canada Flying Test Bed for the next upcoming flight test campaign.


    The PW812D has completed high-risk certification tests, which include bird strikes, hot/cold weather trials including ice, and lost fan blades. The six development engines have accumulated more than 1,200 hours testing and run time. In all, the P&WC geared turbofan (GTF) core at the heart of the Dassault-specific PW812D has logged more than 14,000 hours on the bench.  


    Main aircraft systems including Honeywell third-generation EASy III all-digital avionics,  hydraulic, braking, air, water, and electrical systems are being validated on a multi-system test bench in Istres near Marseille and are also on track for timely delivery.  Digital flight control system bench testing in Saint-Cloud, near Paris, is progressing on schedule as well.

    A new Flight Experience

    The Falcon 6X’s maximum range of 5,500 nm (10,186 km) is longer than that of any other jet in its category. It can fly directly from Los Angeles to London, São Paulo to Chicago or Paris to Beijing at Mach 0.85.


    The aircraft is equipped with a new-generation Digital Flight Control System (DFCS) that provides better maneuverability by controlling all moving surfaces, including a new control surface called a flaperon, adapted from Dassault fighter jets. The flaperon considerably improves control during approach, especially on steep descents such as London City airport.


    The 6X offers the largest cabin cross-section of any purpose-built business jet and the quietest and most comfortable cabin in its class.
    It is built using industry-leading soundproofing techniques based on experience with the Falcon 8X – the current benchmark in noise comfort.  It’s available with Dassault’s revolutionary FalconEye Combined Vision System, the first HUD in business aviation to combine enhanced and synthetic vision capabilities; and FalconConnect, a simple, flexible and user-friendly solution to onboard connectivity that provides seamless communications across the globe.

    Program Maturity

    In preparation for first flight, Gulfstream has already accomplished nearly 14,000 hours of lab testing in its integration- and cabin-test facilities, Systems Integration Bench and Iron Bird. The company has successfully completed ground vibration testing, engine runs, loads calibration and all structural testing required for first flight.

    The G700 flight-test fleet will incorporate five traditional test aircraft and one fully outfitted production test aircraft. Manufacturing for all test aircraft is well underway.

The deal comprises a fleet of Embraer business jets, which includes the recently certified Praetor jets and the Phenom 300. The announcement was made during a press conference at the 2019 National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), which is being held through October 24, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

    Valued at up to USD 1.4 billion, at current list prices, this deal was included in the 2019 second quarter backlog, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of 2019. With this purchase agreement, Flexjet becomes Embraer’s Praetor Fleet Launch Customer.

For the seventh consecutive year, the Phenom 300 has been the most delivered light business jet, according to GAMA (General Aviation Manufacturers Association). Also according to GAMA data, the Phenom 300 was the only business jet to reach the mark of 500 deliveries in the last decade.

    Flexjet became the first fractional provider to offer the Legacy 500, in September 2015. In fact, Flexjet took delivery of Embraer’s 1,000th executive jet, a Legacy 500, in April 2016.     The clean-sheet design of the Longitude integrates the latest technology throughout the aircraft, including the next evolution of the Garmin G5000 flight deck. The comfortable, bespoke interior of the Longitude has class-leading legroom, cabin sound levels that are nearly twice as quiet as the nearest competitor, a low cabin altitude of 5,950 feet and more standard features than all other competitors in this segment.

    With a range of 3,500 nautical miles (6,482 kilometers) and full fuel payload of 1,600 pounds (726 kilograms), the Citation Longitude is designed to elevate passenger expectations in the super-midsize class by delivering the quietest cabin, a low cabin altitude (5,950 feet/1,814 meters), more standard features and a comfortable, bespoke interior. With seating for up to 12 passengers, including an optional crew jump seat, the Longitude features a stand-up, 6-foot tall flat-floor cabin.
